Inspiration
Nature is the source of my inspiration: the landscape, the water, the wind and the light. These same motifs in various forms are constants, to be seen in my photos, glass sculptures and paintings.

About the work
The paintings: in oil paint or acrylic, they have a direct relationship with the Dutch landscape and the arrangement therein of space, color and light.

The design of the photos: from my very first photographs of reeds in the canals of Holland up to and including the newest series, I concentrate on one theme in order to understand, know and portray that subject fully.
For the sake of a graphic or linear form, I cut the leaves and fat knobs off the yellow blossoms of the Fries plompen .
Utilizing mirrors in the duckweed I tried to bring elements from the landscape into a new and different landscape, my own mirror landscape.
In the “Sonnet for the Widow O.” the splits and chinks in wooden planks are the basis for the play of mysterious lines and colors.
The photos of bottles are not of glass, but of ice: they are images of the color of the light at the moment that the photo is made. This is a variation of the work of Monet who painted the progression of light during a progression of days. My photographs of ice give an impression of the changing light during a set time period.
In all simplicity you see the merry making light in the series "balloons". The religeous and mystic character of the light is the drive for me to start the chapter "Niches".

My fascination with light was the most important motive for me to become involved with making glass sculptures. My favorite techniques are sand casting, casting molten glass in sand molds, and "pâte de verre.
Glass is the music of light.
